In Rubinggang Village, Yadong County, Xigaze City, village Party secretary Tsering Loden has gradually become an expert in chicken farming. He led the establishment of a native chicken breeding cooperative, which gives priority to people who have recently been lifted out of poverty, persons with disabilities, and other local villagers, offering them employment opportunities and a share of profits. The cooperative has expanded from an initial scale of just over 3,000 chickens to more than 7,000 today, bringing in a stable annual income of 200,000 yuan for the village collective. In 2025, it distributed a total of 192,200 yuan in dividends to its members, providing support for stable income growth among residents.

More than ten kilometers away, in Xiasima Community, the Yadong River runs through the area, which provides the natural habitat for the Yadong salmon, a Class-II protected wild animal in the Xizang Autonomous Region. Today, in the aquaculture ponds of the local salmon farming cooperative, schools of Yadong salmon swim freely in the water. These ponds of running water have truly become “waters of prosperity” boosting local incomes, thanks to the hard work of Li Xijun and other cooperative members.

Li Xijun, originally from Tianshui of Gansu Province, relocated to Yadong County in 2000 following his marriage to Drolma Tsering, a local of the region. As a salmon farming technician and administrator of the community’s salmon cooperative, he has led the cooperative to raise and sell approximately 10,500 kg of market-ready fish since 2021, generating an income of over 680,000 yuan for local residents and boosting the community’s collective economic revenue to a total of more than 3 million yuan.
