Recently, the 45th Nanmute Tibetan Opera Exhibition and Performance was held in Shuangcha Town, Luqu, Gansu Province. In 2013, Erdi Village, Shuangcha Town, was designated as the Gannan Nanmute Tibetan Opera Inheritance and Protection Base.
The term “Nanmute” is a transliteration from Tibetan that signifies biography and narrative. This form of opera art performance primarily draws upon the biographies of historical figures, legendary characters and national heroes depicted in folk tales. It is characterized by a vivid plot and a coherent structure.
