In Burang County, Ngari Prefecture, Xizang, Mt. Gang Rinpoche rises majestically above the clouds. With an altitude of 6,656 meters, the mountain’s structure is akin to a rectangular pyramid, and its summit remains perpetually blanketed in snow throughout the year. What a snow crowned pyramid!
Not far away, Lake Mapam Yumco, resembling a giant jade, reflects quietly the beauty of the mountain and the surroundings. As one of the highest-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, it serves as a vital habitat for countless lives on the snow-covered plateau, nourishing the meadows and wetlands located at the southwestern foothills of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.
In summer, as the temperature rises, the brown-headed gulls fly over the lake, actively searching for food. The snow mountain, the tranquil lake, and these little creatures together form a stunning and harmonious ecological scene.
