Pusum Township, Nyimu County, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region is known as the “Hometown of Carving”. Half of the households in the township are engaged in carving and prayer flag printing. In 2009, the Pusum carving craftsmanship was listed as an intangible cultural heritage of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is reported that artists in the Treasure Carving Handicraft Farmers and Herdsmen Professional Cooperative in Nyimu County have combined their traditional folk carving techniques with modern carving art, creating text and pattern engraving and printing scripture, prayer flag products and other cultural and creative products. Since the establishment of the cooperative in 2016, more than 36 local people have been employed nearby.
