Kuwaiti mountaineer Zaid al-Rifai announced his intention to climb Mount Ocho Oyo which is located on the border between Tibet of China and Nepal, the Kuwait News Agency reported Tuesday.
Al-Rifai, who has conquered a number of mountains, said in a statement that he was fully aware of the difficulty of climbing Mount Ocho Oyo which stands 8,201 meter high and is constantly buffeted by gale-force winds that make any climbing adventure fraught with peril.
He said scaling Mount Ocho Oyo required of him to be in tip-top physical readiness, with an unshakable iron will, and plenty of spunk.
Gillet's regional Middle East director, Timor Edees, expressed his company's excitement to sponsor Al-Rifai whom, he said, would be a prime candidate to promote the sport of mountaineering, since he has achieved a great deal for the sport on behalf of the Middle East region.
The Kuwaiti climber will be part of a team of five climbers who will begin their trek to the summit of Mount Ocho Oyo on August 28.
Al-Rifai has the distinction of being the 46th mountaineer worldwide who successfully scaled seven of the highest mountain peaks in the world.
