The Deity Dance, performed annually in Sakya Monastery in Shigatse Prefecture on Nov. 29 of the Tibetan calendar, attracts thousands of local Tibetans every year. With a history of more than 500 years, the Deity Dance is always performed by monks and local Buddhists, who carry a 50-kilogram Buddha statue on their backs.
