More than 20 Jonang sect monks from Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province gave a special performance of Zen music in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, on Jan.4, 2015.
Zen music from the Jonang sect, one of the five sects of Tibetan Buddhism, is one of the most ancient forms of religious music in China, with a history of more than a thousand years. Known as a "living fossil" of Chinese ancient music, Zen music from the Jonang sect was recently inscribed into the List of State-level Intangible Cultural Heritages.
Audiences were awed by both the charm of the Zen music and the marvelous stage setting.
